Schedule work like you already do

The gate reads the board you already keep: any job still marked scheduled with a start inside the next three days gets checked. Nothing new to fill in, nothing to switch on.

Mastiff finds the rain

The forecast comes from the National Weather Service — free, no account — pulled for the marked work area on the quote's site map, or the shop's address when a job carries no map. Rain over the next three days is totaled for that spot.

The ground sets the bar

Ground flagged wet — a poorly drained soil-survey class, or the wet-ground chip on the quote — flags at half an inch of forecast rain. Ground with no wet signal takes a full inch. Past double the bar, the wording sharpens from may be to likely.

The row on your dashboard names the job, the start, and the inches forecast, and links straight to it. Dragging the date, swapping in the upland job, or running anyway — all still decisions only you make.

Capabilities

  • Thresholds that follow the ground

    Saturated ground ruts at half the rain trafficable ground shrugs off, so the bar moves with the drainage: half an inch and one inch on wet-flagged ground, one and two on the rest. The flag always names the total it saw.

  • Two wet signals, either counts

    A poorly drained class from the NRCS soil survey — the same read Site Conditions uses, taken from the marked work area — or the wet-ground chip set on that quote. Either one alone lowers the bar to the wet numbers.

  • Forecast for the work, not the county

    The rain total is pulled for the marked work area on the quote's site map, falling back to the shop's address when a job has no map. Forecasts resolve to about a mile and a half on the ground — the site, not the whole county.

  • Three days of runway

    The check runs daily and looks 72 hours ahead, so a flag lands with up to three days to re-shuffle — enough to swap in the upland job while the low ground dries. Jobs further out come into view as their start approaches.

  • Silent when the data is thin

    A forecast covering less than half the window says nothing at all — missing data is not evidence of dry ground, and it's no basis for an alarm either. And it's forecast-only: rain that already fell isn't in the read, so what Tuesday dumped on the tract is still your knowledge to add.

  • Flags once, escalates once

    One flag per job per scheduled day; the only repeat is a warning that worsened, when may be sharpens to likely. A daily check re-reading the same wet forecast never stacks the same row twice.

Common questions.

Will it reschedule my jobs?

No. The flag proposes; you decide. It says may be too wet to run, names the inches forecast, links to the job, and stops there — nothing on the board moves unless you move it.

Where does the weather data come from?

The National Weather Service — the same gridded forecast the forecast offices publish, free and keyless. The number on the flag is the liquid rain total forecast for the next 72 hours at the site.

What about rain that already fell?

The gate can't see it — it reads the forecast ahead, not the ground behind. If three inches landed last week, that's your call to stack on top of the flag, not one the software will make for you.

What makes ground count as wet?

Either a poorly drained class from the NRCS soil survey — read from the marked work area on the quote's site map — or the wet-ground chip set on that quote. Either one halves the rain it takes to flag the job.

Which jobs get checked?

Jobs still marked scheduled with a start inside the next 72 hours. A job with no location to read — no site map on the quote and no address coordinates for the shop — is skipped, not guessed at.
