What is the difference between brush hogging and forestry mulching?

Brush hogging is mowing; forestry mulching is clearing. A brush hog shears light growth a tractor can drive through ($100-$250/acre) and it all comes back next season. A forestry mulcher grinds standing brush and trees to grade ($350-$4,500/acre by density) on ground no tractor could enter. The honest rule: under 2-inch stems and walkable, hog it; thicker or impassable, mulch it.
